Multi-tasking is hurting you more than you think

Just because you can go back and forth between multiple tasks, doesn't really mean you should. Every time you switch between tasks, there is a bit of wasted time when your brain has to switch from one "mode" to another.

Sure, going from walking, to talking to doing the laundry isn't too hard. You can do both of those at the same time. Think about when you are deep in thought though. Maybe you are figuring out some homework, or working on a project. If you want to switch to social media, your brain will completely shut off the focus on your project. When you come back to working on the project, its going to take a minute to pull focus away from your social media. It takes time to "ramp" up again on whatever you were working on.

Have you ever been driving down the road trying to find an address and have to turn down the radio to "hear" better? Our brain can only process so many things at the same time. If you truly want to get more done, focus on one task at a time. Giving full focus will get it done quicker, and more accurately.

How much are you multi-tasking? Do you feel it is hurting, or helping you? Does homework take forever to get done?
